What is Church Membership?
At Northside Fellowship, we believe church membership is more than simply having your name on a roll or attending services regularly. Membership is a covenant relationship in which believers commit themselves to Christ and to one another in the life of a local church. Scripture calls Christians not only to believe in Jesus but also to belong to His people in visible, accountable, and loving community.
To be a member, then, is to embrace both the privileges and responsibilities of being part of Christ’s body. Members receive care, encouragement, and oversight from pastors and fellow believers, and in turn, they commit to pursue holiness, serve the body, and advance the mission of the gospel together.

Why does Membership matter?
Church membership is not about earning God’s favor, but about responding to His grace. It provides a context where believers can be known, cared for, challenged, and equipped to persevere in faith until Christ returns. In committing to one another, we reflect God’s covenant love and bear witness together to the glory of His gospel.
The Membership Process
We want membership to be thoughtful, clear, and accessible. Here’s how it works at Northside Fellowship.
1. Attend a Northside Next Steps Lunch
A casual lunch where you’ll hear about the vision, beliefs, and ministries of our church, and where you can ask questions. Attendance at a Northside Next Steps Lunch is not required for membership at Northside Fellowship, but we encourage anyone interested in membership to attend this free lunch. If you are unable to attend Next Steps, please connect with a pastor to discuss membership at Northside.
Fall 2025 Northside Next Steps Lunch: Sunday, Oct 5 at 12:15pm.
2. Complete the Membership Class
We’ll provide a short series of videos and reading materials explaining our statement of faith, philosophy of ministry, and what meaningful membership looks like.
3. Fill Out An Application
A brief written application helps us learn more about your testimony, faith in Christ, and desire to join the church. You will receive the application link along with the membership class materials.
4. Pastoral Interview
One of our pastors will sit down with you to hear your story, answer questions, and walk through the commitments of membership.
5. Congregational Affirmation
At a members’ meeting, the congregation will vote to welcome you into membership—because membership is not only with the leaders, but with the whole church body.
